Pease Pottage Football Club was formed in the 1990-1991 season and entered the Mid Sussex Football League Division 1. Winning that division in their first season, the First team were promoted to the Premier Division. The Club soon developed into quite a force in the Mid Sussex League where both First and Reserve teams proved successful.
Eventually the Club achieved its ambition in the 2001-2002 season when it gained promotion to the Sussex County Football League Division 3. In their first season the Club won the division, losing only twice in the league all season. The required works at the ground in the summer of 2002 enabled the Club to take its place in Division 2 of the SCFL, and reach 'senior level' status after only 10 years. However, this proved to be a step too far too soon, as the Club went through a transition in terms of players and managers of both First and Reserve teams.
In the first season in senior football they were spared relegation by the folding of Oving FC and the amalgamation of Eastbourne United and Shinewater Association. A second season in Division 2 saw the Club finish outside of the relegation places, but the following season (2004-2005), the inevitable happened and they were relegated to Division 3 again.
The Club used the 2005-2006 season to rebuild, appointing a new manager and, introducing many new faces to the Club and in 2006-2007, they re-established themselves as a force in intermediate football, finishing runner up in Division 3 and winning a Cup treble as well as promotion back to Division 2 for the 2007-2008 season. However, following problems on and off the pitch, the Club found themselves finishing bottom of Division 2, and once again relegated to Division 3.
In the season of 2008-2009, the Club underwent a further transition on and off the pitch with Paul Sargeant being appointed first team manager and a new committee being formed in the aim of rebuilding the Club and gaining promotion again during the next few seasons. However, things didn't go as well as planned and the Club saw themselves finishing bottom of Division 3 but luckily were not relegated from the County League.
Andy Maddox was appointed first team manager for the 2009-2010 season, assisted by Chairman, Joe Paton. The majority of the first team were only 18-21 years of age, so a very young squad, but all bar one were local/Crawley based. The inexperience showed during the first half of the season and the team found themselves once again at the bottom of the table, but the players started to show their own and managed to get a run of good results under their belts finishing third from bottom. Although not a position the Club or players would have liked to see themselves in, the Club were proud of the lads for their achievements in the end.
The 2010-2011 season has seen Andy Maddox resign pre-season. Andy has been replaced by last season's U18s Manager, Paul Hayes, assisted by Grant Purkis. Joe Paton stood down as Chairman on 2nd August 2010 with Mick Bonner replacing him. Wayne Latham, also from last years U18s management team, has been appointed Reserve Team Manager, assisted by player/Captain, Marlon Bacchus. In addition, we have added a third men’s team who play in the Mid Sussex Football League, managed by Justin Holland and assisted by Vice-Chairman, Mick Feenerty, who brought a number of players with them from Handcross Village FC.
Most of last season's senior squad have re-signed with the Club this season, and a number of last year’s U18s have remained at the Club and stepped up to the adult teams. In addition, a number of new players have signed – bringing the current list to over 60 players for the Firsts and Reserves and around 35 for the Thirds – and we are hopeful the teams can make an impression in both Leagues this season.
