Pease Pottage Football Club was formed in the 1990/1991 season when it entered the Mid Sussex Football League Division 1. Winning that division in the club's first season, the 1st team were promoted to the Premier division. The club soon developed into quite a force in the Mid Sussex League where both First team and Reserve team proved successful.
Eventually the club achieved its ambition in the 2001/02 season when it gained promotion to the Sussex County League Division 3. In their first season the club won the division, losing only twice in the league all season. The required works at the ground in the summer of 2002 enabled the club to take its place in Division 2 of the SCFL, and reach 'senior level' status after only 10 years.
This proved to be a step too far too soon, as the club went through a transition in terms of players and managers of both first and reserve teams. In the first season in Senior football they were spared relegation by the folding of Oving FC and the amalgamation of Eastbourne Utd and Shinewater Association. A second season in Division 2 saw the club finish outside of the relegation places, but the following season (2004/2005), the inevitable happened and they were relegated to Div 3 again.
The Club used the 2005/2006 season to rebuild, appointing a new manager, and introducing many new faces to the club and in 2006/2007, they re-established themselves as a force in intermediate football, finishing runner up in Division 3 and winning a cup treble as well as promotion back to Division 2 for the 2007/2008 season. However, following problems on and off the pitch, the Club found themselves finishing bottom of Division 2, and once again relegated to Division 3.
In the season of 2008/2009, the Club underwent a further transition on and off the pitch with Paul Sargeant being appointed the first team manager and a new committee being formed in the aim of rebuilding the Club and gaining promotion again during the next few seasons. However, things didn't go as well as planned and the Club saw themselves finishing bottom of Division 3 but luckily were not relegated from the County League.
The club announced the arrival of Andy Maddox as first team manager for the 2009/2010 season, accompanied by Joe Paton. The majority of the first team were only 18-21 years of age, so a very young squad, but all bar one was local, Crawley based. The inexperience showed during the first half of the season and found themselves once again at the bottom of the table, but the players started to show their own and managed to get a run of good results under their belts and managed to finish third from bottom. Although not a position the Club would have liked to see themselves in, they were proud of the lads for their achievements in the end.
Unfortunately, due to ill health, Andy Maddox has had to stand down as first team manager and the Club are currently on the look out for a new manager. Most of the lads are staying with the Club this season and can hopefully pick up where they left off last year and make an impression in Division 3 this year. Paul Hayes, last year's U18s manager, will be staying and managing the Reserve Team with a number of last year's U18s. In addition, the Club have a Third team who have entered the Mid Sussex Football League and will be playing in Division 11. The Third Team will be managed by Justin Holland who joins us from Handcross Village Football Club.
